Being in a bad mood often leads one to interesting places. My brother is the resident psychologist, so perhaps he could help me make some semblance of sense of my actions. I, however, am a student of Comparative Literature, so I would need extensive time for reflection and essaying in order to tell you, Dear Reader, what the underlying meaning of my actions might be.
Please indulge me a bit, as I relay a brief recounting of my day. Basically, I have had a stressful few days, if not weeks. We all have our own coping mechanisms, and I don’t particularly care to analyze my own for the moment.
Today, in an attempt to even myself out, I found myself in a Border’s checkout line with an odd assortment of items. I came away with a copy of Marvels’ Secret Invasion: The Infiltration, Martin Heidegger’s An Introduction to Metaphyiscs, a copy of Robert Jordan’s The Eye of the World (despite this series being my guiding myth, until today, I did not own a copy of the first book in the series), and two compact disks, one by Brahms and the other by Mozart.
This was after a trip to my local comic shop yielded a copy of Ultimate Nightmare: The Ultimate Galactus Trilogy, Book 1.
It was an odd experience.
I promise you, Dear Reader, to begin a review of the last two weeks’ worth of comics once I return from the archery range in San Francisco’s beautiful Golden Gate Park, tomorrow.
