We Must Astonish Them… Further
And, of course, by “astonish” we definitely mean “mindfuck”. Warren Ellis starts his tenure as writer for Astonishing X-Men with Issue 25, which arrives on shelves this week. I’m looking forward to seeing what he does with the characters, especially in their current state of disarray.
At the very least, I’m very glad to see that Armor is remaining on the roster. I’d much rather have Kitty Pryde remain on the team, but her whole ethereal space bullet thing sort of puts that out of our range of options. Maybe she’ll figure out how to unbond with the metal and phase through it, only to find herself on whatever horrible frozen prison planet Havok is on. That’d be a sweet story line.
If you have no clue what I’m talking about with Havok, then I highly recommend reading X-Men: Deadly Genesis, followed by the Rise and Fall of the Shi’ar Empire story arc of Uncanny X-Men, and then topping it all off with X-Men: Emperor Vulcan.

As you probably know, Joss Whedon is incapable of meeting a deadline, so the first few issues after the end of that story arch were written before the said ending… and that sounded confusing..
They’re not talking about Kitty Pryde and what just happened right now, because it was written before the Giant Size issue.
